Matt and Renée are a husband and wife creative team based in Tauranga, working across architecture and graphic design throughout Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.
With complementary disciplines and a shared approach to design, they bring different perspectives to their work while often finding natural points of crossover. Their practice is grounded in thoughtful, purposeful design, with an authentic and down-to-earth approach to every project.
Matt Sterne
Architect
Matt is a New Zealand Registered Architect with extensive experience across architecture, design, and product development. Having held senior roles within some of the country’s leading architectural practices, he brings a considered and rigorous approach to each project, from initial concept through to completion.
His work is grounded in a strong understanding of materials, construction, and detail, complemented by hands-on experience in carpentry and metalwork. He also has a talent for drawing and visual communication, which forms another part of his creative practice.
Renée Sterne
Graphic Designer
Renée is a graphic designer and Creative Director with more than 20 years’ experience across branding, advertising, and design. Her work focuses on creating distinctive brand identities and considered print and digital experiences, with a strong emphasis on clarity, consistency, and visual impact.
Having worked across a range of creative agencies and projects, Renée brings strategic thinking and a refined visual approach to every brief. She also collaborates with Matt on architectural projects, contributing her perspective on colour, materials, and functionality to add another layer to the design process.
